Fake Credit Card Numbers Mean Safer Online Shopping

Posted on/at 10:01 PM by Elijah Anderson

Isn't That Illegal?

Yes, using credit cards fraudulently is illegal. This article is absolutely not suggesting that you make up and use a credit card number. You should also never use credit cards belonging to other people.

Below is a summary of new services the credit card companies have created to make online credit card use more secure.

How Does It Work?

It is more appropriate to use the terms "temporary credit card numbers" or "single-use credit card numbers" rather than "fake credit card numbers."

Some credit card issuers allow customers to generate and use a credit card number that is different from the number on their plastic credit card.

Current Online Security Measures

Security-conscious online buyers should only submit their credit card numbers to web sites that are secured by Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption. You can tell if a web page is secure by looking for the following signs:

1. The page address in the browser address bar begins with https. The extra "s" means secure. Normal web page addresses begin with http.

2. The browser will usually display a closed lock or a complete key symbol when you are at a secure page.

3. Clicking or double-clicking the closed lock symbol (or the security symbol your browser uses) will usually show the security information for that website.

4. Secure (https) web pages will encrypt (scramble) your credit card information before sending it across the public inteet. Chances are that a human being will never even view the information.

That Sounds Secure Enough. Why Do We Need Single-Use Credit Card Numbers?

It is a bonus to the consumer any time a vendor can provide an extra layer of security. Online credit card consumers can generate a separate credit card number for each online purchase, if they wish.

This easy-to-use extra security measure makes consumers more confident about buying with credit cards over the inteet. Anyone who did view your information in transit would see only your encrypted information. Encrypted information looks like gibberish to everyone except the credit card company's computer.

Additionally, it is no longer necessary to submit online the credit card number imprinted on your physical credit card.

Will They Run Out Of Credit Card Numbers?

No! Assume that Earth's population is about 6 billion people. Most credit card numbers have 16 digits in this familiar patte: nnnn-nnnn-nnnn-nnnn. Assume that each digit in a credit card number can assume any value between 0 and 9.

That works out to be almost 1.7 million credit card numbers available to every man, woman, and child on Earth!

Even if the first 4 digits are reserved for some reason, there are still about 170 credit card numbers available for every person on the planet. In short, the credit card companies will not run out of single-use credit card numbers.

How Are They Different From My Real Credit Card Number?

They are as valid as your plastic credit card to online merchants. Each single-use credit card number is linked to your primary credit card account. Purchases made with single-use numbers appear on your monthly statement. Refunds made to single-use numbers will appear as credits on your monthly statement.

OK, What's The Bad News?

There are certain circumstances under which you should not use a single-use credit card number to make an online purchase. This author leaed from experience not to use a single-use number at home to purchase movie tickets from a popular online ticket vendor.

The problem occurred because the machine at the movie theater that dispenses the online movie tickets requires the insertion of your real plastic credit card. If you did not use your real credit card number to buy the tickets, the machine will not release your tickets.

Any online purchase that requires you to present your physical credit card at the venue should only be made with the number on your physical credit card. Web sites that sell movie and other tickets will wa you of this.

Furthermore, your online ticket purchase will come with a confirmation number. Write or print that number and take it with you in case of problems.

Conclusion

Single-use credit card numbers are easy to generate, make online buying safer and more secure, and give consumers extra confidence when making online purchases. Call your credit card company or visit their website to lea if it offers this extra peace of mind on your credit card account.

10 Benefits Of Having Your Own Home Based Internet Business

Posted on/at 5:55 AM by Elijah Anderson

There is nothing like having your own business and enjoying the rewards that go along with it. In this article, entrepreneurs will lea some of the greatest benefits of owning a home-based inteet business. Many individuals run a successful business in addition to a day job, so dont submit your resignation until you find out if an inteet business is right for you. Whether you want to start your own eBay business, resell products from a dropshipper or operate a tukey website, there are 10 excellent benefits that you will want to know when it comes to operating a home-based business:

1. You have more time to spend with your family. Often, a full-time job away from the home doesnt allow for a lot of family time or spending all day with your children. If you dont want to miss a minute, a home-based business may be the way to go.

2. You are in complete control over your finances. No more working for a set per hour wage or salary because, with your own business, you are in control of how much you make.

3. You are in control of your schedule, the hours you work and which day(s) you work. There is no calling in sick or working late hours because you get to decide the schedule. Even if you want to work in your robe and slippers, you can because your home is your office.

4. By operating your own business, you will gain the knowledge and skills required to help boost your marketability in any future job opportunities should you ever decide to enter the job market again.

5. You will make all of the decisions involved with the day-to-day operations regarding your business, including full creative control.

6. You will lea how to gain free publicity for your business through the use of press releases, article marketing, search engine placement and link exchanges. This information is extremely valuable and will always be important if you plan to continue with your business.

7. You will save a lot of money on transportation, including gasoline costs related to going out to work on a daily basis, saving wear and tear on your automobile, mileage and frequent car repairs caused from everyday use.

8. You will not be tired from standing on your feet all day, sore from lifting heavy boxes and shipments or any other labor associated with many jobs. With an at-home business, the heaviest thing you will need to lift is that of the rare occasion when computer equipment must be moved or checked.

9. You will no longer have to worry about company cutbacks, layoffs, reduction in hours or other issues that can cause financial problems with conventional jobs. If you need to ea more, you simply put in more hours to ea extra money. If you need some time off, you can determine when and how much according to your wishes.

10. The 10th, and best, reason to operate your own home-based inteet business is quite simple. You get to be the boss.

Exercise Good Judgment To Find The Best Free Stuff On The Internet

Posted on/at 10:49 PM by Elijah Anderson

Since the launch of the web, there has not been a shortage of freebies available. These range from free email to free airplane tickets and everything in between. Generally, people either believe everything they see or nothing at all. In reality, the smart user falls somewhere in the middle. It is important to exercise good judgment in order to take advantage of all of the legitimate freebies that the inteet has to offer.

The first thing to keep in mind is that if it looks to good to be true, it probably is. Logic tells us that by signing up for a credit card, we probably arent going to get a free IPOD. The same goes for the emails that promise great items in retu for forwarding them along to friends. While these offers may be a waste of your time and energy, there are plenty of great offers out there.

Websites such as http://www.coolsavings.com/, and http://www.kalamafree.com/ offer a wide variety of consumer goods for free. These free samples include medicine, diapers, soap, mens magazines, gift cards, clothing, food, music, books, and much more.

There are a few different ways to find the best free items available. One easy method is to locate some of the large freebie directories, such as: http://www.1freebieseeking.com/. This will allow you to have a one-stop location that can offer thousands of freebie options. Another method is to seek out a specific free item that you are searching for. This can be done by using a search engine to find the free offer you desire. For example, if you wanted to find free Frisbees, you would search for free Frisbees. This will allow you to avoid the clutter of the large freebie sites and find what you are looking for more easily.

The volume of free goods that you can accumulate through the web is only limited by your creativity. Exercise good judgment and you will be on your way to enjoying many new things with little cost to you.

A Brief History Of The Popup Ad

Posted on/at 11:29 PM by Elijah Anderson

Pop-up ads are a form of online advertising on the World Wide Web intended to increase web traffic or capture email addresses. It works when certain web sites open a new web browser window to display advertisements. The pop-up window containing an advertisement is usually generated by JavaScript, but can be generated by other means as well.

A variation on the pop-up window is the pop-under advertisement. This opens a new browser window, behind the active window. Pop-unders interrupt the user less, but are not seen until the desired windows are closed, making it more difficult for the user to determine which Web site opened them.

For early advertising-supported web sites, banner ads were sufficient revenue generators, but in the wake of the dot com crash, prices paid for banner advertising clickthroughs decreased and many vendors began to investigate more effective advertising methods. Pop-up ads by their nature are difficult to ignore or overlook, and are claimed to be more effective than static banner ads. Pop-ups have a much higher click rate than web banner ads do (about every 14,000th popup ad is clicked on).

Poographic web sites are among the most common users of pop-up ads. Some particularly vicious types of pop-up ads (again, most often seen in connection with adult entertainment sites) appear to have either been programmed improperly or have been specifically designed to "hijack" a user's Inteet session. These forms of pop-ups sometimes spawn multiple windows, and as each window is closed by the user it activates code that spawns another window -- sometimes indefinitely. This is sometimes referred to by users as a "Java trap", "spam cascade" or "Pop-up Hell" among other names. Usually the only way to stop this is to close the browser.

Opera was the first major browser to incorporate popup-blocking tools; the Mozilla browser later improved on this by blocking only popups generated as the page loads. In the early 2000s, all major web browsers except Inteet Explorer (then the most popular browser and still as of 2006) allowed the user to block unwanted pop-ups almost completely.

In 2004, Microsoft released Windows XP SP2, which added pop-up blocking to Inteet Explorer. Many users, however, remain unaware of this ability, or else choose not to use it. Many others are not able to use it at all, as they do not use Windows XP SP2, but older versions of Windows. Some users install non-Microsoft ad-blocking software instead.

A Hitchhiker s Guide to the Internet

Posted on/at 2:23 AM by Elijah Anderson

"Where do you work?"

"Planet Earth."

Sound familiar? No? Well, it should. More and more people are working from home on the Inteet, and there are two things you should know about your office when you work on the Inteet.

First, your office will be very, very small and very, very lonely, as I chronicled in my "hermit" articles.

Second, your office will be very, very big and full of many, many people from every coer of the planet, mostly trying to sell things to each other. That is because when you work from home, Planet Earth is your office and theirs.

For instance, would you believe that a man on the Inteet in the Ukraine delivers the local weather forecast in Sydney to Chicago? So much for sticking your head out the window.

I have a client in the UK who sells machine parts through a website selling ceramic & ball bearings to every country in the world ... except the UK, of course. Doesn't that make the local hardware store redundant?

With so many clients crowding into my office, I could use some stress-relief techniques around now.

Office Politics in the Global Office

My clients live on almost every continent, and the only thing that occasionally gets in the way of seamless communication are time-zone differences. (If Columbus would have minded his own business, we wouldn't face even that challenge!)

What's more, my clients are not always English-speaking, and neither are all of my clients' websites. Can you say netzwerk überwachung & netzwerküberwachung? I do search engine optimization in four languages - English, French, Spanish and German - which tells you something about the global office in which some of my clients sit.

But there is more than just language that makes the global office a tricky workplace to navigate. Aside from the lack of water coolers and washrooms, most of the world works in metric, but the biggest Inteet market works in imperial. So some customers won't know what a mile is, and others won't know what a kilometer is.

And everybody spells funny to someone else. Is it honor or honour? Center or centre? Folks or peeps?

Fortunately for me, I live in Canada. 95% of Canadians live within a stone's throw of the US border. (They are all folks, by the way.) So we officially lea to spell and to count the way the British do (but they are still not peeps). Nevertheless, Americanisms sneak across the border by osmosis, perhaps due to an attack dog budget shortfall at the illegal aliens department.. At least I'll know what a mile is – it's that thing people want to take when I give them an inch.

And what about currency? I make it simple. I use US dollars, because that really is the currency of the Inteet. But I also accept Paypal payments, so anybody can input their favorite currency and out pops US dollars on my end. I wish more people would do that. I could use more dollars.

If none of that phases you, consider time zones. Just as a client in Australia is waking up, your client in the United States is going to bed. And how will they reach you when you are not in the office. Tools like email to phone can help. So can insomnia.

Nobody twenty years ago would have imagined that you and I could sit at home and type words into a TV screen to make a comfortable living. Welcome to my office – Planet Earth.

Hmm. Right now I am reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy...I wonder if I can work from home on the Inteet on any other planets...

Fraud Tips for Buying Web Sites

Posted on/at 6:40 AM by Elijah Anderson

Buying a web site can be a risky proposition. Here are a few tips to help you avoid some of those risks.

Revenue

When valuing a web site, revenue is king.

The standard method for valuing web sites is to take the monthly revenue and multiply it by another number to determine a fair value for the web site.

The number is called the multiplier. Sellers like multipliers of 36. Buyers like multipliers of 3. Most deals end up somewhere between those two extremes.

Fraud Tip: Be sure to look at revenue numbers over a year's time. Some sellers will have one good month or one good quarter and try to overprice their web sites based upon that. Don't buy a store thinking that every month is December.

PageRank

A web site with a PR6 main page is worth more than a web site with a PR5 home page.

Fraud Tip: PageRank is easy to spoof by using a 301 Redirect, waiting for a Google PR update, taking down the 301 Redirect, and then selling the web site before the next Google PR update. Be sure to examine the backlinks to a web site to ensure that it deserves its PageRank.

Fraud Tip: Some sellers will sell PR0 domains and say "The site doesn't have PR yet." The truth is that these sites have often been banned by Google. You are better off to wait for the next Google PR update.

Fraud Tip: A seller may have a lot of their own links pointed to a domain, artificially inflating the PR. After the domain sale is completed, the seller will take down their links to the domain. Be sure to examine the backlinks to a web site to ensure that they are not all coming from the sellers other web sites.

Page Count

A web site with 5,000 pages is worth more than a web site with only 5 pages.

Fraud Tip: Don't listen to how many pages a seller says the web site has. Check with the search engines. Web pages that are not indexed by the search engine do not have much value. If the seller has web pages that aren't being indexed, there may be hidden problems with the web site.

Domain Name

A web site with a great domain name is worth more than a web site without one.

Fraud Tip: Make sure that the domain name does not have potential trademark violations. Don't buy "buying-and-selling-on-ebay.net" and wait for eBay to sue you. They will.

Copyright Compliance

A web site which is built with copyrighted material can cost you a lot more than what you pay for it.

Fraud Tip: Check the text of the website for originality using Copyscape.

Fraud Tip: Check the web site graphics using Google Image Search.

Fraud Tip: Lyrics and Ringtones are copyrighted material. Don't buy this type of site unless you know this material was used with permission.

Originality

Some webmasters build a web site, make a dozen clones of the web site, and then sell off each clone as an original web site.

The clone web sites are then penalized by Google's duplicate content filter.

In addition, if there are a dozen web sites offering substantially the same content, those web sites will have to divide the same limited number of web visitors between them.

Fraud Tip: Check the originality of the website for originality using Copyscape.

AdSense

Some webmasters sell their websites after they have been banned by AdSense.

Fraud Tip: If you intend to use AdSense on a web site, examine the web site to ensure that it is compliant with the Google AdSense ToS and Program Policies.

Tip: Before placing AdSense on any new domain that you purchase, write adsense-support@google.com and notify them that you have purchased a used domain. This will prevent your AdSense account from accidentally becoming confused with that of an AdSense cheat.

Nothing will protect you from every fraudster, but these guidelines will help to improve your chances of buying a quality web site.

Create Viral Traffic With Brandable eBooks

Posted on/at 8:47 PM by Elijah Anderson

Viral Traffic Building

When I started my website, one of the first things I did was place a few free eBooks up for download in order to have something for free.

Now, a couple of years down the track, 60% of my traffic is untrackable. I deduct that this has something to do with the thousands of eBooks which have been downloaded from my site.

I am the author of one of these eBooks, (How to Autorun a CD) and the others I used content from one of my old reports with reprint rights CD s.

I used the same eBook template for all the eBooks and inserted about five links at the top and bottom of each page which point directly to my main website.

One of those links points to my free eBook index which could be the reason this page is high on the "top entry" list but low in terms of search engine rankings.

The Brandable eBook

I have noticed around the Web that Inteet Marketers were offering custom brandable versions of their eBooks in order to encourage distribution. The idea is that more webmasters would offer the eBook for download from their site if their URL could be branded within the pages.

Affiliate programs use this method of traffic generation along with webmasters like me who have content sites. What this means is that this technique can be used by any webmaster regardless of how big or small their site is.

How To Create a Brandable eBook

If you already know how to build simple HTML pages, all you need now is an eBook compiler (also called HTML compiler) with the capacity to brand the output file.

If you do not know how to build HTML pages but know how to edit them, then you might like the original eBook template that I use which is available free from: http://www.ezau.com/latest/articles/free-ebook-template.shtml

Selecting the Correct Compiler

In terms of right and wrong, any ebook compiler which comes with branding software can be used. So right and wrong cannot be used to describe correctness. What I mean by correct compiler is plain and simple ease of use for me, but most importantly for the end user.

You see, we need to make it as easy as possible for the end user otherwise they will put the whole project in the "too hard" basket.

I own several eBook compilers costing me from $30 to almost $100 and I find the cheapest one which is "Activ E-Book" to be the best one to use for the creation of custom brandable eBooks.

Activ E-Book creates rebrandable eBooks which means that the file can be re-branded over and over. This makes it really easy for the end user because if they make a mistake, they can start start again with the same file.

With some other HTML compilers, if you overwrite the master file, it cannot be rebranded. This could cause problems for the end user because if they make a mistake they will need to go and download the master file again. You can get around this by creating a readme file which explains not to overwrite the file but to save the file under another name. Now this could be getting into the "too hard" area for both the end user and the original author.

Offer Brandable eBook Downloads

I have started to convert my ebook downloads to brandable ebooks. I give both the master file and the branding software away for free. My stats indicate that there is no shortage of takers for my custom brandable edition of How To Autorun A CD. Now these webmasters have something to offer from their site like I did at the start without any expense of time and money.

Pitfalls To Avoid

My early eBooks had a resources page where I placed ads which pointed to my affiliate links. After some time I realized that this would not encourage other webmasters to offer the eBooks at their site.

The Solution? The resources page contains only links to other free eBook downloads. Also, I now have one sponsor ad which can also be branded with the users ClickBank Nickname. So if you want to go "viral", do not riddle your brandable eBooks with affiliate links because not many webmasters will offer them at their site.

10 Things You Never Thought to Buy on eBay

Posted on/at 6:52 PM by Elijah Anderson

I have to admit, sometimes I get teased by friends or family for what I buy on eBay. There is very little I purchase that I don't at least attempt to buy on eBay first. Why not? There are thousands (if not millions) of eBay listings at any given time -- that's a pretty amazing resource for everything under the sun. For everything you buy on eBay, there's probably at least one other thing you haven't thought of. To start you off, here's a list of ten things you (probably) never thought to buy on eBay:

1. Postage Stamps: Yes, it is possible to get a discount on postage stamps! A lot of times companies or individuals will purchase a mass quantity of stamps for a mailing and end up not using them all. The USPS doesn't buy back stamps, so a good alteative is to sell on eBay. Expect to pay between 80% and 90% of face value, with the bigger discount coming from a larger purchase quantity.

2. Timeshares: Real estate is big on eBay, especially timeshares! As long as you are careful in reading all of the fine print and purchasing from a reputable seller, you can come away with a great vacation at a fantastic value. You can easily pick and choose from a wide variety of locations, amenities, and prices.

3. Over-the-counter medication: Need to replenish your supply of Advil, Visine, Airboe, or Mylanta? I buy nearly all of my over-the-counter medication on eBay. It's almost always drastically cheaper, and you can also search for generic or store brands. I save hundreds of dollars a year doing this.

4. Makeup: There are certain shades and certain brands of makeup I know I will always use. It's easy to search for these on eBay and buy them in bulk or at a discount. It's also a great way to find discontinued colors that you love and can't live without! I set up a search for my favorite discontinued items and save it so I am emailed whenever an auction matching my criteria comes up. I've been able to keep using a certain shade of lipstick despite the fact that it was discontinued years ago.

5. eBay Business Supplies: I see so many people who sell on eBay using padded envelopes or other supplies from the USPS -- not the free Priority or Express mail supplies, but the expensive supplies sold in post offices. If you know you're going to sell more than just a few items, buy your supplies on eBay! Great discounts are to be had on bubble mailers, bubble sheets, labels, and more.

6. Spices: Yes, kitchen spices! I eat oatmeal nearly every moing and use a generous amount of pumpkin pie spice for flavor. I was spending at least $3 every time I purchased a tiny container of it at the store. I found a supplier on eBay and was able to get over ten times the amount for only twice the price!

7. Gift Cards: If you frequently shop at a certain store, it pays (literally) to check out the gift certificates category on eBay. People resell gift cards they aren't interested in using, and you can often get a good discount. Some of the more popular stores sell for nearly 100% of face value, but others sell for 70% to 90% of face value. If you're going to spend the money at the store anyway, why not buy a gift card and save a few bucks? I like to look at it as free money!

8. Food: The food category on eBay is huge. You can buy your favorite overseas candy, soda flavors you can't find locally, fresh baked cookies just like mom made them, protein bars, elegant desserts, and much more. A word of waing though... looking for food on eBay can make you hungry!

9. Massage Appointments: These can usually be found in the gift certificates category. A lot of spas and massage therapy locations will sell gift certificates for massages at discounted rates to gain new customers. As long as you are careful to check that the location is legit, you can find a great deal. I was able to purchase a fantastic one-hour massage for only $35.

10. Magazine Subscriptions: Magazines make money selling ads, and they can charge more for their ads if they have more subscribers. Because of that, they will let go of a lot of subscriptions to brokers for very low prices. A lot of these brokers sell on eBay. Imagine buying a year's subscription to your favorite magazine for only $3! They usually take four to eight weeks to kick in, but it's well worth the wait.

Hopefully these ideas have given you a starting point for the wide variety of ways you can save money on a daily basis by purchasing through eBay. Happy bidding!

Are You Using These Keyword Selection Guidelines To Improve Website Conversion Rates

Posted on/at 9:15 AM by Elijah Anderson

Use the correct lingo.

Have you ever been in a room where people are talking but you don't understand a thing about the topic or even understand the language? Take it from one who knows, it can be quite frustrating. Living in Finland and speaking only a little Finnish means that every day I'm subjected to conversations where I have very little idea about what is being said. Being a curious (some would say nosy) soul, this infuriates me! Especially if I'm on a bus and see old grannies cracking up with laughter at a private joke I'm too ignorant to be in on.

It's similar online. You have to start communicating on your Website using the terminology that your visitors use. If you use the right terminology and phrases, not only do they find you, but to use my analogy, you also let them in on the joke! If you're using the wrong terminology then you're leaving your visitor a bit confused, a bit foggy and feeling a bit left out of it all. How to avoid this with your Website:

When selecting your keywords follow three simple guidelines.

Gauge the traffic potential of the keywords in terms of quantity.

Gauge the visitor's intent when using those phrases in their search query

Measure traffic potential from those keywords in terms of conversion.

1) Traffic potential of your keywords:

Obviously you want the search engines to drive lots of traffic to your Website. However, I would argue that quantity should never be your first objective; quality traffic should be what you're looking for. Your goal is to optimize your pages for the keywords that bring the highest numbers of prospects.

Find the keyword phrases related to your industry that your target market is searching for. So first, find out the terms that are being used by the general public by using a tool like the Overture keyword suggestion tool. There are others available such as the one at Google; Wordtracker is also worth the investment.

But before you rush off and start optimizing your site for the keywords you find, take heed of the second guideline -- gauging visitor intent.

2) The visitor's intent when searching:

Test the phrase in the search engines you're going to optimize for. For instance, our own keyword research showed that 'conversion web site' is a phrase people are using in the search engines; however, if you search on Google using this exact phrase, you will see that people are actually looking for money conversion, religious conversion, weights and metric conversion, etc. -- not sites about converting site visitors to buyers. This is why you need to look for the real reason why people are searching. In our case 'conversion web site' might be worth testing on PPC, but it's not worth optimizing our organic pages for that phrase.

3) Traffic potential in terms of conversion:

The next step is keyword measurement and experimentation. We decided to optimize for 'improving Website conversion' because this phrase showed that there should be reasonable traffic levels, good intent, and a high number of conversions from this phrase. We found that 27.8% of people using that search term end up subscribing to our newsletter. When a person enters those keywords into a search engine, we're speaking their language because our entire Website is a resource about what they're looking for.

To do this yourself, identify keyword phrases that you think fit well with the first two guidelines above, and then measure the result. It's about selecting the keywords immediately relevant to what your audience is looking for.

Summary

To improve the conversion rate of your Website, first find the keywords people are using related to your industry, make sure that the search results from the keywords you select are relevant to your industry, and then optimize your site for those phrases.

Finally, measure and test those phrases so that you have the best chance of converting your search engine visitors into customers, clients, or subscribers.

5 Reasons Why Your Home Improvement Business Should Be Online

Posted on/at 11:45 PM by Elijah Anderson

Why Your Home Improvement Business Should Be On The Inteet

1. Its much more cost effective that yellow page ads that only serve one area. A website can serve your entire county for less than the price of a basic yellow page ad.

2. Cost less and is more environmentally friendly than printing glossy brochures. Think about how many people ask to see your portfolio of your craft. A website can display your pictures over and over again with no extra cost.

3. Having a website brands you as an expert. Think about two businesses with everything being equal except one has a website and one does not. Who do you think most customers will go with? Well a website will brand your image in the head of your customers.

4. Out of town customers can reach you. Yes I realize that if you work in Alaska it is no value to have someone see your website in Califoia.or is it? YES it is because what if someone from Califoia was about to move to Alaska and needed some Home Improvement Done?

5. Its cheap these days to have a website. It no longer cost thousands of dollars to make a nice looking website. Most small trades people can have an attractive website for about $200.00-$300.00 with yearly maintenance and hosting running about $120.00. So when you add it up that is less than $1.00 per day. Most trades people will break even if they got 1 extra customer in a year. Yes one extra customer will pay for the website entirely.

Defend Your Thank You Folders From URL Guessers

Posted on/at 4:10 AM by Elijah Anderson

If you sell downloadable products, you're going to have a thank you page (a URL where the buyer is redirected after a sale). With just a couple lines of HTACCESS code you can make that folder airtight.

You shouldn't be putting a buyer through a mandatory signup process to download the product. They already paid, just give them the file right away and offer a chance to opt-in for updates later. Otherwise you'll be getting lots of support e-mails from people asking where the product is they just paid for.

It's always smart to name your thank you page something with a number -- a name like postorder735.html or thank-you-9987.html will do. You just want to make this impossible to guess.

When it's possible I like to separate the sales page from the download, so I stash them in a folder called something like "download" or "order." Problem: If you have these separate folders, these URL guessers can see the contents of them.

The obvious solution is to put an index.html in the folder, which keeps its contents from being listed... but what if you have, say, 25 of these folders? Do you need 25 index.html files?

No, and that's where HTACCESS comes in. Open up a new text file in Notepad and put this text in exactly:

Options -Indexes

Then save the file as: .htaccess (WITH that dot in front)

Upload it to the root of your web site. Now, if you try to view the contents of a folder that's missing an index.html file, your browser will show a "403 Forbidden" error.

Don't worry, this won't block out all files. It will simply keep a guesser from viewing a list of what files are in a given folder.

If you don't want to see that ugly generic Forbidden page, you can supply your own by adding this line to that .htaccess file of yours:

ErrorDocument 403 /sorry.html

Now you can put your message into a HTML file (maybe it could be a link to the main page of your site), put it into a file named sorry.html and upload it. Now you'll have a friendly notice that says anything you want.

One last bonus tip for you. If your forbidden message is extremely short, you don't even need to create a separate HTML document. If it's possible for your message to fit all on one line you can remove that ErrorDocument line above from your .htaccess file and put in something like this:

ErrorDocument 403 "Sorry...

I'm aware that there is a starting quote and no ending quote. That's just how you have to type it. If you put in a quote at the end there it would show up in your HTML document. I know it looks funny, but it works. Remember that "Sorry..." text is HTML so you could put in line breaks, links, bold tags, H1, H2 tags, and so on. It's all up to you.

Ethos FR Ingredient for success

Posted on/at 8:41 PM by Elijah Anderson

In all my years networking I've been told that in order to spot the right opportunity you have to take 2 things into consideration:

1.Timing
2.Product

Timing

Every where you tu you can see the frustration in the American Publics eye when it comes to the subject of ever rising fuel cost.

While oil companies boast multi-billion dollar profits, the people are left looking for relief.

Product

Ethos FR in my opinion is the best ingredient for success that I've ever seen.
Not only can you use this product in your fuel tank to increase your vehicles gas mileage, and clean out your entire fuel system, it can also be used in your crank case and cleans put your entire engine resulting in a smoother running, longer lasting vehicle and lower fuel and maintenance costs.

Ethos fr has been featured in several news stories from top dogs like Fox, NBC, ABC...
and is also backed by china to the tune of around $7million a month. Our own Govement even uses this Ethos FR in military and secret service vehicles.

Credibility like this is envied in the network marketing industry. Already over 56,000 people have enrolled in the pre-launch of 4-E Corp.

With that said, I recommend everyone try Ethos FR. The worst thing that can happen is you could save money on gas.

8 Ways To Increase The Perceived Value Of Your Freebies

Posted on/at 2:30 AM by Elijah Anderson

Almost everyone is giving away a freebie so they can attract people to their web site. They are giving away free e-zines, ebooks, services, etc. What's happening to all this free stuff? It's loosing it's perceived value. Every time you surf the inteet or check your e-mail you see at least 20 to 50 freebies offers.

Don't get me wrong freebies do increase traffic, but not like they did when the inteet was new. The key is to increase the perceived value of your freebies so they will be more attractive to your audience. How do you do this? Well, here are eight ways:

1. You could tell them what the freebie is worth with a dollar amount. For example, "Subscribe to my free e-zine! A $199 value!"

2. You could add other freebies to your freebie that will increase the value. For example, "Subscribe to my free e-zine and get free access to our "subscribers only" private web site!"

3. You could tell them the freebie is only available for a limited time. For example, " Download our free ebook, this free offer will only be available until May 30, 2000."

4. You could tell them the freebie is only available to a limited number of people. For example, " Our free software will only be available for the next 100 people that download it."

5. You could give more details about the freebie. List the benefits, features, what problems the freebie will solve, etc.

6. You could describe your freebie to sound more attractive. For example, instead of "free report" you could say "free never released top secret document"

7. You could list testimonials for your freebie. Most businesses don't give testimonials for their freebies. This would defiantly increase your freebies value.

8. You could tell people how many people have already receive your freebie. For example, "15,000 people have already subscribed to my free e-zine! Can they all be wrong?

These are only a few ways you can add value to your freebies. You could be creative and think up some other ways to increase the perceived value of your freebies. Also test each idea to see which one draws the most traffic to your web site.

Choosing the Right Topic The Answer Might be a lot Easier than you Think

Posted on/at 3:51 AM by Elijah Anderson

Good and hot topics are essential as is having the right financial and marketing strategy and the right attitude towards getting your subscription website off the ground.

There are three things that should be remembered while choosing the right topic. Listen to your heart, the head and what the market demands are. The combination of the three will get the desired results.

Getting started

Your heart should rule

Have you ever noticed how the first response in an emergency situation is sometimes always the best one? It's the same case with other things too like choosing the right topic. You can choose the right topic by listening to your heart.

You would be starting the website and you have to run it. Take a topic, which is right after your heart. In this way, your interest will be sustained. Once your interest is generated, your output will show the good result. The good output would result in more customer base as an increase in revenue generation.

If you listen to only the market dictates, and not listen to your heart, chances are that the subject matter will never see the light of the day.

Passion is not only a fruit, it's a feeling. It's zeal to do something, above all other things. Have the passion for the subject matter and your website will definitely stand out from the rest of the sites that are there.

Ask yourself, what is that one topic that is closest to your heart and you will have your answer. The answer to it will give you the head start in choosing the right topic.

The world is really quite a small place and innumerable people share the same kind of passion for the same topics. So what does one do? One follows logic, one follows reasoning.

The brain talks to you

Logical thinking is what the brain will tell you. Passion is not alone; the expertise is also required to succeed in life and career, when you can blend the two you will have a recipe for success.

Experience and expertise is also required to write in that field. For example you love to dabble and write about the stock market. But you must have some knowledge about the way the stock market performs, the way the stocks can raise and fall, the effect of the exteal environment on business environment.

Having formal knowledge or experience of having worked n the stock market will help you to write the content matter. Therefore you need to use your brains to succeed in life and the chosen path that you have taken.

However if you have no expertise or passion for the subject, but you would want to write, then maybe you should take a close look at what you really want to do.

Market demands and expectations

Market demands should be met. You have a passion to write and the requisite expertise, but to be profitable, one needs to listen to the market demands and expectations too. Only if follow the market demands, then you can be profitable in your chosen field.

Having a subscription website should be a revenue generating stream. It should generate enough profits and revenue so that you don't have an outside job. To know what the market demands, you are required to do a market survey.

You need to also have a financial plan in order to know how much revenue you need to survive. A financial plan chalks out the various expenses and the revenue required to break even. For example if you think, that the website is going to cost you 50,000. Accordingly you should have a revenue stream. In subscription terms, this is means that if have 500 members who would pay 100 each. You have broken even. You need to have more members, to ea the profit on your investment.

Remember the market survey that we talked about. Would there be enough subscribers to pay for the content matter that you have a passion for. Are there enough people who are willing to share your passion? Will there be enough members to pay for the expenses that you would be doing on your website.

These are some of the questions that you must ask yourself before you proceed to put shape to your passion.

These are some of the points that you must have answers to

  • The information that I am providing, will people be willing to buy it
  • How many members can I make in the first year
  • When can I break even
  • What is my competition; will I be able to beat my competition?
  • What is my target market/ group

When you have the answers to these questions, you can be ready to start your own subscription website.

Mentor site

One of the most profitable ways to operate subscription sites is to lea from mentor site.

Mentor site are sites which would provide your subscription website with matter, content, suggestions, comments etc. In essence, they will spoon feed your customers.

They charge 1000 and above a year. Some even charge 2500 annually for their content.

In most cases, those who buy the content do so because they dream of making it big like the mentor sites. They want to get involved in the same business activity. Therefore in essence they are leaing the business from a professional.

In fact some of these mentor sites are a virtual gold mine. For example there was a certain mentor site, which had 1500 topics about running your own business.

These are dream businesses that people want to run.

Passion

Passion is very important in whatever job you do. Whether you want to be a housewife or have a full-fledged career, the onus is on you. Having a passion for what you do will make you succeed in life, nobody can hold you back in case you have the passion and conviction in what you do.

2 Ways of Making Easy Money on the Internet

Posted on/at 9:40 PM by Elijah Anderson

Everyone needs money to survive in this world. The majority of us work hard for money just to provide a decent living for ourselves and our family. But when it comes to life enjoyment, most of us have limited money to spend. If you are one of those people have limited money to spend, you need to lea the two ways of making easy money! It would certainly help if you receive extra paychecks every now and then.

How can you start making easy money?

Method #1 Making Easy Money Buy/Sell

Source for products cheap and reselling them at profit price. Products generally cost less if you buy in bulk. Many people are making easy money buying products cheap and selling for profit at auction websites.

Method #2 Making Easy Money with Pay per Click

Starting pay per click campaigns promoting products and services online. Ea commissions for every sale made. This is also one of the easiest ways of making easy money.

These are the two ways of making easy money on the inteet. However, both have certain level of risk because an initial investment is required. Put it this way, Make Money Work for You.

Here are brief risk descriptions of both Methods:

Risk for Method #1

You may not be able to sell products you bought at bulk.

Solution: Always research the supply and demand market of that particular product thoroughly before putting your money to work. Statistical data are usually provided by the auction sites for sellers to analyze the buying trend of a particular product. Find out the price of the item people are willing to pay for. Try to avoid items with low values.

Risk for Method #2

Cost of advertising greater than profit. In other words, you spend $500.00 in advertising but only managed to generate $300 in sales revenue. The product/service sales page where you sent traffic to may not convert sales well.

Solution: Like Method #1, youll have to analyze the supply and demand market of that particular product/service. But this time, youll be using data provided by the search engines. Contact the original merchant on their sales performance. Get estimates for sales over x number of visitors. Anything below 1.5% will not be a good product or service to promote.

Making easy money opportunities contain risks. You either get scared off by the potential loss you may incur or look for solutions to minimize the risk. For Method #1 and #2, there are very good solutions to minimize their risks. You just have to find em :)

A Guide to Using Internet Fax Services

Posted on/at 7:40 AM by Elijah Anderson

Using inteet fax service is an easy way to send and receive fax messages over the inteet. Online fax services provide great advantages to its subscribers at affordable rates. By subscribing to inteet fax services a customer can send and receive fax messages from anywhere at any time what one need is a computer, an inteet connection and an email ID.

Nowadays there are several companies offering web faxing services. Most of these companies provide a paid service and a free service. The difference between these two is that if a customer needs to utilize all the features of an online fax service he/she need to subscribe for a paid fax messaging service. Free services are offered with various limitations such as only receiving faxes or sending a limited number of faxes.

Using inteet fax services is quite easy, the technology is similar to email services to a certain extend. To start using web fax services, first you need to subscribe with an inteet fax service provider. The service provide assigns you a unique inteet fax number. Same as email ID, this is the address to which other users can send in their fax messages. The subscriber also has to create an email id in the service provider domain, in order to send and receive faxes. This is where the users are supposed to type their messages and it is where the incoming fax messages will be delivered by the service provider. Once the user sent the fax message, the message will be dispatched to the service providers server, where it is converted into a suitable file format before eventually forwarding it to the recipients mail box or fax machine, whichever is applicable.

The advantages of using web faxing are that the users can send and receive as many faxes simultaneously or send all faxes instantly. Another major advantage is that, the there is no complexity of a conventional fax machine and those never-ending paper jams. The technology is quick and even cheaper than traditional fax messaging. So why spending time and energy with the traditional fax machine subscribe for an online fax service now!

Abbreviated Abstracts for Digital Libraries

Posted on/at 11:17 PM by Elijah Anderson

Can you imagine all the digital libraries in the world with every single white paper and research paper ever created in the history of mankind? Imagine a wealth of information at your fingertips and while you are imagining this consider that many colleges and universities are doing just that and all this is often able to be gotten from the web and brings people to the websites of the Universitys digital libraries.

As more and more colleges and Universities sync their research into one, it is becoming easier and easier to quickly collaborate around the world you see. But if you do not know exactly what you're looking for it might be hard to search through the search features of all the Digital libraries to make sure that your query gives you the proper results.

It seems to me that all digital library white papers should have an additional shortened abstract and set of keywords that are submitted by the maker of the paper and perhaps put at the very end of the white paper as to not clutter it up, but where the search feature will find it. I believe this gives a much better chance of the user of the search feature of any type being able to find the information they need. This will speed up research and allow the human race to share information faster. Consider this in 2006.

Do You Want To Increase Your Google Adsense Revenue

Posted on/at 7:03 AM by Elijah Anderson

How much revenue do you generate from Google Adsense?

Recently there has been a lot of discussion about people who ea over $10,000 a month just from Adsense. Furthermore, there are rumors of a few individuals who ea over $1 million a year just from using the power of Google advertisements.

So what is Google Adsense and how can you use this program to ea a six-figure income?

About two years ago, Google created this program to help websites to monetize their web-traffic.

Here's how it works:

Webmasters obtain a special code from Google which then displays targeted ads on their website. Whenever a visitor clicks on one of these ads, the webmaster eas a commission. Unlike other online businesses, there is no selling involved. All you need to do is get people to click on the ads.

Although this is an excellent way to generate an income, many websites are not effectively maximizing their Adsense potential. As a result, they are leaving a lot of cash on the table.

The question is how can you increase your Adsense revenue without increasing the number of web visitors?

The key to eaing an income with Google Adsense is to have your ads match the rest of the site, making them look like part of your content. Your focus is to avoid having the Adsense blocks look like blatant advertisements.

The following are six ways that you can do this and increase your revenue at the same time:

1) Find the right place- Most website visitors read content that is in the middle of a webpage. As a result, the best place to put your Adsense block is in the top part of the page, at the beginning of your web content. You want to weave the Google Ads into your web content to give the appearance that they are extra links which expand on the information of the page.

2) Use the Large Rectangle–With Google Adsense, you have the option of picking different ad formats. Most of the time people opt to use the Leaderboard (728x90) or Wide Skyscraper (160x600) style ads. Unfortunately, this is the wrong choice, because both look like blatant advertisements. Instead smart webmasters have found that using the Large Rectangle (336x280) yields the best amount of click-thrus.

3) Ditch the border– Many people experience a sharp increase in Adsense revenue when they changing their border. What they change is very simple…they get rid of the border on their Adsense blocks. This is another way to make the advertisements look like useful web content.

4) Adapt the font- Whenever you write content, it should be the same font size and style as your Google Adsense block. This will help make it appear that the advertisements are a natural part of your website.

5) Match the colors– In addition to changing the fonts, you also should match the colors of your website. For instance, if your content is written in black, and your hyperlinks are blue, then the Adsense blocks should also be the same color. Again, this helps the advertisements appear to be normal web content.

6) Don't have too many distractions- On a webpage, it is important to give web visitor a limited number of options. By having too many links and graphics, the web visitor might go to a section that doesn't help increase your profits. While it is important to inform and entertain your web visitor, it is also vital that you monetize your site. So if the main focus of your site is to ea an income through Google Adsense, then get rid of all non-essential links and graphics.

By taking the time to implement these six simple steps, you'll see a dramatic increase in the click-thru ratio of your ads. If added to all of the content of your site, your Adsense income will skyrocket!

Customer Loyalty is Coffee Shop Loyalty The Perfect Blend

Posted on/at 10:41 PM by Elijah Anderson

I choose what I like

So you do not follow a sporting club; wear only Dior; drive a BMW. You wear whatever you feel like, watch all sorts of sports and drive a car you liked at the time of purchase; not because of its make, you just liked it. As I mentioned in our last article there are many types of loyalty besides brand, sport or club loyalty. Today we will explore one of the most important types of loyalty. One which I call: 'coffee shop loyalty'. This is not to be confused with loyalty programs which must by default be a keen topic of discussion.

Massive, free advertising

Many of us have a favourite coffee shop. We go there week after week. We meet our friends there; we may take business associates there. Not only do we offer the owner repeat custom, we bring friends along. By bringing business associates for coffee we are, in effect, recommending the shop as a good place to visit to the broader community. This increase in custom costs the coffee shop owner not one single dollar. The owner potentially acquires well-populated chains of customers from your friends and business associates through a single alliance; you. He pays you nothing.

This is massive, free advertising. You must ponder its success and the reasons for its success frequently. Can we find the secret recipe? To tell the truth, there is no one single and global solution. There are many aspects to 'coffee club loyalty' because we see people sitting, chatting, drinking and enjoying themselves at crowded coffee shops all across town. Examine those that you see often-crowded; examine even more closely those that seem to have a few less patrons than the others.

Getting it right

Why scrutinize empty shops? Surely we want to see what the good ones are doing to keep such repeat crowds sitting at their tables? Absolutely right! But is it not equally important to see if we can find out what the empty ones do, don't do, in order to remain empty? They are so regularly empty; it must be planned so it is up to us to see what they have in their plan. We will leave it out of our planning.

Gather information about people

Gathering information about people is just as important as gathering information about the goods we sell or the services we supply. So how do we start, remembering the budget for research is small? Think back for a moment to your favourite coffee shop and see if we can get some sort of criteria which we could use to plan for a successful coffee shop. See if we can stretch this to our online store. Make mental notes next time you are there. Better still take pen and paper. Ask a few of the regular customers why they keep coming back. Do this over several visits so that you can have time to analyse the thoughts of other customers and formulate more focussed questions for yourself. Do you see pattes emerging? I bet you do. Are you going there this week?

Staff tuover is typically high in coffee shops. My favourite shop has a high tuover too but the staff are always friendly, happy, courteous, know how to react with patrons from a large number of different backgrounds. The owner must look after staff as well as patrons. New staff quickly lea your name. Service is brisk, efficient, and reliable. There is nothing particularly expensive or outstanding about the dcor. It is comfortable, rather than mode. Many regulars come several times each week and stay for much longer than it takes to drink a cup of coffee. There is nothing special about pricing. The menu is fairly static; functional. They occasionally run a special night such as their birthday party or to promote a local band. The owners are always mingling with patrons. It is in a good location; a lot of foot traffic, close to other shops and has parking near by. And that is about it. I will be there again next week.

Doing what corporate giants do

You are now doing just what the big corporations discussed previously are doing. The budget is slightly different. You are finding out what customers do and do not like. When we set up a store online we tend to forget that our customers will be the very people we talk to at the coffee shop. Online customers are coffee shop customers too. They know what makes them leave or stay; buy or not. Your own friends are an equally valuable source of information. Ask them too.

Getting the right blend is the key to 'coffee shop loyalty'; it is the key to online success.

Do We Have to Live in the USA

Posted on/at 5:18 AM by Elijah Anderson

I have been getting just a mite "ticked of " recently at many of the web sites who are offering certain "freebies" or "special deals" at the end of their sites.

After you read through all the verbage and get down to the meat of the advertising, you often find that a site will lure you in by offering all sorts of "goodies" that you can have access to. When you finish signing up for all of these wonderful " add ons" and go to submit your application, you will find that many of them are available to US citizens only.

I take exception to this, I don't live in the US and I fail to see that if these companies are advertising their goods or services on the world wide web, why am I excluded? After all, it is the WORLD WIDE WEB

It makes me feel like a second class citizen, that I do not deserve my "freebies" even although my money is good enough for the company to let me sign up.

I opted in to a Survey Site that promised I would make money almost oveight, I could search the list of approximately 60 companies who were looking for people to take surveys. When I checked out this list, I am sure that at least 75% of them were "US" only. So that takes me back to my original thought, why am I penalized for not being an American?at least on the inteet.

So for any companies that may read this article, please open your minds and your web sites to the fact, that there is a great big world out there!!.

Building Downlines and Keeping Them

Posted on/at 7:59 AM by Elijah Anderson

You know the scenario: You join some program, work your butt off to promote it, to get signups, and you feel like you`re hitting a brick wall. After a few months, you give up, and try something else, or give up completely.

Know what`s missing? Active, helpful sponsors/uplines. Have you ever tried mailing your upline, only to get NO response? It`s a horrible feeling. Makes you think "Why should I bother trying to help this guy make some money??"

Been in this situation? Or maybe you`re guilty of being this type of sponsor? Either way, you need to read this:

I try to actively help anybody who signs up under me, no matter what. I always have done, and in 4 years of marketing, I still have mostly the same loyal people following me into any program I show them.

Doesn`t matter if the program tus out to be a flop, or the best thing on earth. Those people are with me all the way, and they are fantastic!

I try to promote their pages/programs, pass on signups to them etc. and at the risk of sounding big-headed: They love me for it! This is why, even if a program flops, they follow me on to the next one, because they KNOW I`ll help as much as I can.

Mail your upline if you need help with anything, let them know you`re struggling. Ask for what you want. Believe me, it works wonders, and people aren`t mind readers.

If you don`t ASK for help, most will assume that you`re doing just fine. If you don`t get any support from your sponsor, go higher, even as high as the program owner if you have to.

I am pseudo-blonde with techie stuff, asked a friend to help with building my ezine (he`s a programmer) and VOILA! website all built. So I am living proof: It DOES help to ask.

Do NOT be a "dead" sponsor. Keep in touch with your signups regularly. Offer your help in any way you can, offer to exchange hints, tips and info with them.

Search the net for some good e-books that may be helpful to them, and pass them on. Free ones are best for this purpose. (Just make sure you read the books yourself first, so you know they`re not rubbish)

Got some software you use, that you find helpful? Pass it on to those below you. Anything that you`ve ever found helpful, pass on. Just remember to never, ever, ever spam your downlines with other stuff.

Send a mail maybe twice per month, offering your help. Make sure you give them multiple ways of contacting you, email, msn, yahoo messenger just to name a few, and ALWAYS make time for them.

If somebody asks you a question you can`t answer, you know what to do, right? Ask YOUR upline, don`t allow them to be slackers. After all, they want YOU to help THEM make some money too, so ask them to help you if you need it!

Bottom line: Never be afraid to ask for, or offer to, help. Works for me, and most of the people in my downlines now practice the same. Now get out there and help each other, it WILL pay off :)

Fat Cat On The Internet

Posted on/at 8:32 PM by Elijah Anderson

I saw a reference to the term "fat cat" as I was in the middle of doing some little bitsy thing on one of my sites, one of those that you know is not going to make you RICH, it's just a question of sending perhaps 20 visitors a month one way, instead of another.

It then occurred to me that there's a metaphor in there somewhere.

HOW do fat people get to be FAT?

By eating huge portions?

Yeahhhh .... sort of ... but that's not where it starts, that's more of an after effect.

IT'S THE LITTLE BITSY THINGS THAT DO THE TRICK!

A snack of cake here. A nibble of a few nuts there. A biscuit or two. A little glass of wine ... mmmmh, a small piece of cheese would go just perfectly with that .... Just a couple of extra chips won't hurt ...

LOL!

I don't know why this amuses me so, but the thing is that you can get "fat catting" using that same principle on your business operations.

A tiny little link here ... a little article there ... a tasty little banner ... a bit of a download ... a teensy note to your mailing list ... you can hardly notice it at all ...

And then you look around as a couple of years have passed, and WHOA!

You're not a skinny starving newbie anymore, but have unnoticeably tued into an "inteet fat cat"!

HOW did that happen?!

Haha!

But I guess there's where the metaphor divides, for what is deemed so terrible in one field of human endeavour, is just SO PROFITABLE in another.

And the thing is, you can hardly notice it going down!

It's every day, it's all around and there are endless opportunities to "snack on the wealth of the Inteet".

Much better way to become that rich, glossy, shiny and impressive FAT CAT than trying to force artificial "get fat quick" schemes down your throat, isn't it.

Man, I'm still chuckling ...

But seriously, this works.

I'm living proof of that principle - twice over!

Bon appetit!

Silvia :-)

Before Publishing a Newsletter Ask These Questions

Posted on/at 9:28 AM by Elijah Anderson

In the current world of marketing especially online marketing theres a lot of talk about the magic of newsletters. If you listen to the gurus, it sounds like every business should be sending a newsletter, whether printed or electronic, to its customers and prospects on a regular basis. But how can you be sure whether a newsletter is really a good investment or the right decision for your business? Start by asking yourself the following four questions.

1. Do I want to build long-term relationships with my customers? If the structure of your business is simply to serve customers one time and never see them again, an ongoing client newsletter would probably be a waste of time. But if your intent is to develop long-term relationships with the clients you serve, a newsletter can be a perfect vehicle for doing that. Because clients and prospects hear from you regularly through your newsletter, you ea their trust and credibility. They become more familiar with you and your services, and theyre usually impressed by your efforts to keep in contact with them. Soon theyll feel like youre more than a service provider; youre a personal acquaintance so theyll call on you when they need your services.

2. Do I have information or expertise that could be valuable to my customers and prospects? Without information that is valuable to readers, a newsletter is useless. But if youre an expert in your field (and hopefully you are), you probably have lots of information, ideas, resources or advice that could help your clients work better, work smarter, or save money. In fact, if you dont know anything your clients dont know, its doubtful that they will keep hiring you. The key is to figure out what knowledge or resources you have that could be valuable to your clients, and determine how to deliver that information to them in a way that will be helpful and enlightening without sharing all your secrets. One way to figure out what kinds of information you could share in a newsletter is to make a list of questions clients frequently ask you. If you have informative answers to those questions, you have information that could be valuable.

3. Do I have the time or resources to produce a newsletter on an ongoing basis? A newsletter is only effective as a marketing tool if it is produced consistently at least on a quarterly basis, and preferably on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. If you arent willing to commit time or resources to making your newsletter an ongoing priority, its probably not worth an attempt. The amount of time needed to produce a newsletter can vary based on the method of delivery (electronic or mail), the length of the newsletter, the frequency of publication, and the amount of work you intend to do in-house. Keep in mind that publishing a newsletter can include several steps, such as:

* News gathering and trend-watching.

* Research and interviews.

* Writing and editing.

* Layout and design.

* Printing and/or distribution.

You may outsource some or all of these tasks to an outside provider (such as The WriteShop), or you may choose to produce the newsletter in-house. The method you choose will determine the amount of time and/or money youll be investing in your newsletter but keep in mind that well-produced newsletters usually pay for themselves in long-term relationships that develop into increased sales.

4. Do I know what specific results I want to achieve with a newsletter? As with any marketing program, its important to set goals for your newsletter before investing any time or money into it. Think about what you would want to accomplish with a newsletter: Do you simply want to build a larger contact database? Do you want it to help generate more leads? Do you want it to increase sales? If you have specific goals in mind before you launch a newsletter, youll be better able to shape your newsletter to the needed results, and better able to measure your success.

Becoming the publisher of your own newsletter can be a significant undertaking. Before you take the plunge, be sure you know what youre getting into and what you want to get out of it.

A Common Mistake In Internet Marketing

Posted on/at 9:06 PM by Elijah Anderson

One of the most common mistakes that people new to the world of Inteet marketing make is not using email mailing lists. I'm not talking about SPAM here, I'm talking about quality email addresses that are interested in YOUR products. Sound too complicated or too expensive ?? Its a actually inexpensive, easy, and can be added right along with the advertising you already have.

So why are these lists so important ? Well, if you have a web site and you aren't capturing their emails, you are just throwing away money! Most of the time your web site visitors accidently stumble upon your website and aren't very likely to buy your product. We would all like to think everyone would love to buy our product right this second, but the cold hard truth is most wont the first time. Knowing this you may think the outlook is pretty grim. But there is some good news, a lot of them do want to buy and Will buy your product, the just don't know it yet !

So how do you make them realize how good your product is ? Offer to email your visitors a free "e-report" with several issues or a sample of your e-book. It will keep you and your web site fresh in their minds, and may win them over and get them excited to read the rest of your material! Your email list will gradually grow over time, and then you have a list to send your marketing campaigns to.

This is what you will need to get started: You will need to sign up for an autoresponder, this is a great tool that sends out emails for you when people sign up for their free information on your website. All you have to do is sign up, create your email advertising campaign, and when someone signs up, it instantly sends the emails for you! Then all you need to do is paste it on your website where you want it, and you are ready to go. Also, I want to add one cool thing you can do with your lists, and other peoples lists in the same type of market as you. You can offer your competitors 50% of your profits if they will send out an email to their mailing lists promoting your product, tuing your competitors into your partners. You may even get people asking you to do the same. Why not share the wealth ?

Best wishes!

7 Ways To Choose The Right Internet Business

Posted on/at 6:00 AM by Elijah Anderson

How do I choose the best inteet home business among the millions of inteet business opportunities ?

There are litterally millions of them on the inteet. Where do i start ? And how do i know if this or this inteet business is the right one for me ?

There are so many home business opportunities out there that it's hard to know where to start. And how do you know you have chosen the best one? It can all get pretty frustrating.First do some research. How long are they in business ? Do they have a good products to sales ? Do they pay good commission ? Do they deliver the check ? (I remember one home business where i have never seen a check !)

So here is 7 ways to choose your own inteet home business

1. FREE TO JOIN

Do you have to pay to join an affiliate program for example ? How much those it cost ? Are you willing to pay $1000 a month or between $30 to $100 a month ? Are you willing to advertise between $50 to $5000 a month to bring people etc.

Most people don't want to pay a lot of money before starting up a home business. So in my experience you should choose a home business that cost $30 to $75 a month.(It should be FREE to join). The cost should be for buying product to try yourself and advertising.

2. FREE WEBSITE

Does your home business offer you a free website or free gateways ? If not! Are you able to make or run a website. Or to pay to make one. (It can cost between $100 to $5000 to have one made by an expert.)

3. FREE BUSINESS TRAINING OR FOLLOW UP

What kind of support and training does the Inteet company offer? What kind of support and training do you want when you start up your home business? Do you want ongoing training ? Or just a Smart Start Training ?

4. GREAT PRODUCT

Does the company offer exclusive product like vitamin or special information ? Is it easy to sale ? Is it a quality product ? Does it have a money back guaranteed ? Are they to pricey to buy ?

5. COMPENSATION PLAN

Does the company offer a good commission like between 40% to 80% per sales ? Does it offer residual income ? (a residual income; is an income you get month after month on the same product you sell to the clients as long as he keeps buying it).

Does it offer great rewards like after 4 sales you get a bonus ? Are there clear goals that you can achieve? Is it hard to achieve does goals ?

6. LEADS GENERATION SYSTEM

Does your home business offer you leads that you can buy to build your business ? Are those leads old or new leads ? Are they double opt-in or even triple opt-in quality leads ? Are they really good leads ?

7. DOES IT OFFER YOU A RESOURCE CENTER ?

Like a hit counter with live stat.

A powerline genealogy where you can see the name and address of your affiliate

A sales report (SVP, Commission etc.)

Marketing aids (text ads, flyer, banner ads, wearables etc.)

Contact manager (where you can contact all your affiliate )

Key Code Tracking (for tracking your marketing effort)

Help Desk (FAQ's, Retrieve Password, Support, Email checklist etc.)

This is a short summary of what to look for for a home business. You can find all this in my home business opportunities. After joining and testing thousand of home business it is probably one of the best you will ever try.

Delicious Colors

Posted on/at 5:37 AM by Elijah Anderson

Its a very nice cook book, Mr. Masterson flipped through the clear plastic display book holding the cookbook manuscript. And Delicious Colors is quite an interesting title.

Mike nodded, hoping there wasnt another shoe to drop. Tape--L'oeil was the last publisher whod agreed to see him. Well, as an anosmic, I only care about the scent or aroma of...

Anosmic? Masterson dropped the manuscript. Is that a Christian sect, Mike, or something Middle Easte?

It isnt a Christian Mikes voice trailed off. He felt a weird falling sensation as he realized the mental gulf between them. How could this man not know the cookbook was for people without a sense of smell? Had Masterson read the foreword to Mikes cookbook? Had he read anything except the cover?

Masterson misread Mikes silence. Not that Tape--L'oeil Publishing would discriminate against any racial or religious group, but Mastersons eye flicked left then right quickly, making Mike think of a cartoon rat. But we do have to consider the size of the market for an 'Anosmian' book, especially a cookbook. Masterson leaned back in his chair apparently feeling that he was back on safe ground. How many 'Anosmians' are there in the United States?

If there were enough, would Mastersons greed overcome his misplaced bigotry? As I wrote in the introduction, there are around two million anosmics in America.

Oh, so less than one percent of the populationand do all anosmics have to cook? I mean, on holydays or something?

Well, no. In fact, to many of us food has less appeal than it

Masterson interrupted him with a dismissive wave. Well then. Thats that. He slid the manuscript across the desk to Mike.

But two million people, if even one in ten buys a copy that is The perfectly manicured hand cut him off again. That will mean three hundred million books retued to us. Thats what happens when you pitch to such a small percentage of the population. Masterson leaned forward, teeth bared in a predatory grin. And before we even get to forty percent sales we need to get it in front of people. He pressed part of his desk and the door behind Mike opened. Do you know how much it costs to make a book available to all three hundred million Americans? Masterson stood and extended his hand for a farewell handshake. For starters, twenty one percent of them live in rural areas.

Tus out, with a fifteen dollar book, Dawn looked away from the computer, youd probably make less than a dollar.

He glared at her. The money isnt the point. He looked away. Well, not the main point. I just want to give other anosmics cooking instructions so that they can make food that tastes good even without having a sense of smell. Plus itll have instructions on ways to cook that dont depend upon a sense of smell. He clenched his fist and muttered in a high nasal voice. Saut until the scent of the veal overpowers the scent of the onions. If youre really not interested in money, you could give your cookbook away.

I looked into that. It would cost at least five hundred dollars. I cant afford that, and it would still only get me a hundred books. Going that route, youd have to collect those hundred books and somehow distribute them to other anosmics. Or you could visit bookshops and try to get them to take a few on sale or retu. Youd then have to go around a month later and try to collect the money for any that sell and take back the ones that didnt.

Chr... He stopped himself, istmas. I hadnt thought about getting them to people, or even into the shops. Id probably have to deal with a dozen people like Masterson.

A dozen, dont you mean two or three dozen? But selling them youd maybe make five dollars per book. So as long as you sell half youll break even. Masterson said forty percent. He frowned. Five dollars, dont you mean ten?

She shook her head. Tape--L'oeil publishing could sell them for fifteen because theyre a big publisher. Youd be better to sell them for ten so they do sell. That is, if you really do want the work of selling traditional paper books.

So, why did you even suggest self-publishing? It sounds like a lousy idea.

She nodded. That wasnt what I suggested. I was thinking you could literally give it away, for a lot less than the cost of a single print run. She paused, smiling. For only ten or fifteen bucks you could set up a website, with the full text of your cookbook online. That way, all your fellow anosmics throughout the country can have your scentless recipes for free.

Mike sat up, raised his hand and slapped them together in a loud clap. Heleck yeah. According to one website, about twenty people a day type anosmia into a search engine. With luck, most of them will find my webpage and get my recipes.

Dawn tossed half a dozen sheets of paper onto the couch next to Mike. Here are some more recipes for you to try and maybe add to your online cookbook. She pointed to the top sheet. Plus an angry email from another anosmic whose taste in food doesnt match yours?

Once he picked up the pages she sat down next to him. Oh, and someone else emailed wanting to send you money. Dawn smiled. Ill give him the address of our post office box.

Mike nodded. Lets just add our post office box into the webpage. He picked up the sheets of paper. Hopefully well get enough each month to cover the cost of the website.

As soon as Mike got home Dawn dashed out of her study and intercepted him in the kitchen. She had a handful of letters, and stared for a moment, obviously unable to resist smiling. Mike wondered what idiotic thing hed done now. It had to be a whale to provoke that much joy. She held up an official looking envelope. It had the address of their post office box typed on the front, so it was probably a bill. How many anosmics did you say there were?

Mike shrugged, About two million.

Yes, two million in America, and nearly one percent of them all seem willing to send us a dollar. But our website isnt just seen in America. How many are there worldwide?

He stared at her. When did it go from being his website to being our website? She silently handed him the envelope, which had a British stamp. They say that to save them postage fees one person has volunteered to gather donations and send you a money order every three months. Apparently France and Spain are doing the same thing!
